Living in the heart of Florida comes with its fair share of challenges, and one of the most daunting is the annual hurricane season. Our state is no stranger to these natural forces, but this year, we faced a unique and powerful adversary: Hurricane Idalia, a Category 4 behemoth. It's safe to say that our tranquil town of Live Oak was shaken to its core.

The Arrival of Hurricane Idalia

As the Labor Day weekend rolled around, the entire community was on high alert. The impending arrival of Hurricane Idalia left us in uncharted territory. None of us had experienced a direct hit from a Category 4 hurricane, and that uncertainty was nerve-wracking, to say the least.

Community Unity in Action

In the days leading up to Idalia's arrival, Live Oak came together like never before. Businesses closed their doors as a safety precaution , residents went ahead and secured essential supplies, and heartfelt check-ins with loved ones became the norm. The sense of unity was palpable, but so was the tension in the air.

Our Commitment to Preparedness

Meanwhile, our team faced a unique challenge. We're responsible for over 20 properties scattered across North Florida, and safeguarding both our investments and our families became our top priority. To make sure we were ready, we embarked on a comprehensive assessment of each property. It was a race against time, but our determination was unwavering.

Leaving No Stone Unturned

During our property checks, we meticulously ensured that we had the necessary insurance coverage in place for each one. The stakes were high, and we were resolute in our efforts to leave no stone unturned.

Finding Solace in Preparation

As the storm loomed on the horizon, we found solace in knowing that we had done everything within our power to protect our investments and the safety of those who call our properties home. With our preparations complete, we hunkered down, ready to face Hurricane Idalia head-on, hoping for the best while bracing ourselves for the worst.

As Hurricane Idalia intensified, we watched with bated breath, its relentless strength filling us with dread. We turned to social media for updates from friends and family, grateful for even the smallest morsels of news. 

Hurricane Idalia wrought destruction upon trees, homes, and power lines, yet we found ourselves spared from its relentless fury. Our hearts filled with gratitude as we realized that not only were we alive, but all our beloved ones were safe and sound. It was a profound blessing. Remarkably, our properties emerged from the storm with no irreparable damage, a fact we could scarcely believe. The outpouring of support and concern from friends and well-wishers was overwhelming, and all we could express was our deep-seated gratitude.

Storm preparedness is key to staying safe during severe weather events. Though recovery is slow, we are making progress. We want to give our heartfelt thanks to the volunteers, linemen, medical professionals and everybody who gave their time so selflessly in bringing Live Oak and the surrounding area back to its feet.

Hello Helvenston!

Quinn, a true native of Live Oak spanning eight generations, holds an unwavering affection for his hometown. Live Oak, where he pedaled his cherished Schwinn alongside his brothers, forged lifelong friendships, initiated his initial foray into entrepreneurship selling marbles and cinnamon toothpicks, and ultimately settled down with the love of his life to raise their children.

In this quaint town, Quinn is a familiar face, renowned as the go-to real estate expert. Phrases like "Talk to Quinn" and "Ask Quinn" reverberate throughout the community when real estate queries arise. The start  of his real estate career began with a property in Live Oak, and some of the most unforgettable deals he's closed were within the town, including the century-old gem situated right in the heart of the community – 304 Helvenston.

Its a house that he initially bought to sell as is, but everyone just fell in  love with it and though he’s had some offers on it to buy as it is, nothing was really was magnificent enough for him to let it go. While offers to purchase it "as is" did arrive, none quite matched the magnificence Quinn envisioned for this historic residence. Ultimately, he decided to embark on an extensive renovation project. The journey proved arduous, beset by unexpected challenges and rollercoaster-like progress. There were nights when doubt crept in, questioning the endeavor's worth. Yet, deep within his heart, Quinn harbored an unyielding desire to gift Live Oak with something truly extraordinary, capitalizing on his expertise in the realm of real estate.

Following several demanding months of painstaking restoration, Quinn's team triumphantly completed the last item on their checklist, heralding the moment for Helvenston to make its debut on the market. As soon as the listing went live, a cascade of congratulatory messages poured in. The community, who had observed the project's progress from the sidelines with bated breath, was ecstatic to finally witness Helvenston's transformation. It surpassed even their loftiest expectations, drawing over a thousand views on Zillow within the first day. The eagerness to share this remarkable property on social media platforms was overwhelming, and the ensuing reactions deeply moving.

In that moment, Quinn realized that he had embarked on the path to fulfilling one of his dreams – giving back to the town he holds so dear and endowing the next generation with a place to call home in which to craft their cherished memories.
